On Sunday, the commission was alerted by members of the public of dead fish.
On Monday, a PFBC waterways conservation officer and officials with the state Department of Environmental Protection responded to the area where Walton Run meets Byberry Creek and observed a significant number of dead fish, reptiles and amphibians.

It was determined that a large amount of wastewater that contained ammonia had been introduced to the creek, resulting in the loss of aquatic life downstream to Poquessing Creek.

Fish species impacted included chubs, suckers, sunfish, minnows and two trout.

The affected waterways are not stocked with trout by the PFBC and do not contain native trout populations. ••
